The "mother" is Mary, who is so far our oldest maternal ancestor, so the mtDNA source, which has the Results of Haplogroup -K2b1a. So descended from Katerina, the 16,000 years old lady found by the lagoon where Venice now is; one of the original "7 Daughters of Eve". "Otzi the Iceman" is in there somewhere too.

We don't know if she had any penchant for handing people swords, like the Arthurian "Lady of the Lake" (aka the"watery tart" of Monty Python fame).
