Marguerite "Mickey" MacLachlan Wall died peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at her home in Darien. She was a resident of Sterling Glen for the past five years. Born in Danbury on June 25, 1913, she was the eldest daughter of George A. MacLachlan and Katherine Collins MacLachlan.
Marguerite's entire family was involved in the MacLachlan hat manufacturing business, founded by her father in both Danbury and Norwalk. Marguerite attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Kenwood School in Albany, N.Y. and Marymount College in Tarrytown. She spent her junior year abroad, studying in Paris, allowing her the opportunity to travel extensively and develop lifelong friendships.
She married Thomas J. Wall in 1937 and subsequently lived in Fairfield. A longtime summer resident of Fairfield Beach, she enjoyed tennis and boating and was a member of the Brooklawn Country Club, the Black Rock Yacht Club and the Fairfield Beach Club. After raising her five children, "Mickey" spent several happy years volunteering for the Easter Seal Rehab Center in Stamford, which was an Early Childhood Program for Children with special needs. This program is now called the "Jump Start" Program and sponsored by the Jewish Community Center in Stamford.
Marguerite is survived by her five children, Peter M. Wall (Judith) of Milford, Katharine A. Healy (Thomas) of Greenwich, M. Pamela Madden (Thomas) of New York City; Thomas J. Wall, Jr. (Nora) of Antigua, W.I. and R. Michael Wall (Sarah) of Annisquam, Mass; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine M. Reilly of New Canaan; as well as several nieces and nephews. Marguerite was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Thomas J. Wall; two brothers, G. Randal MacLachlan of Danbury and Charles J. MacLachlan of Jupiter, Fla; and two sisters, Janet M. Stevens of Fairfield and Mary G. (Mae) Hodge of Danbury.

The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, May 11, 2006 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, CT on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the aforementioned “Jump Start” Program at JCC, 1035 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905, Attn: Sue McGraw.
